There are certain accessories that every owner should have on their boat, and one of those accessories is, of course, the toilet. It might not be the most flashy thing that you want to share with your friend during the conversation but it certainly is one of the most important ones.
There is really no point in explaining everything that can go wrong on your trip, we can just say that out metabolism sometimes has it’s own clock when it comes to natural things in life.
Us guys can sometimes deal with number one if it’s just guys trip, however, number two is a different story. Ladies, on the other hand, are not as lucky as guys are so we need to find a way to help them out.
Recently I wanted to update the bathroom on my boat so I did a little research on it. I read some reviews on Amazon just so I can get the idea of what the best pontoon boat toilet is.
Below are my thoughts on it, I hope they can be helpful to you.

The Many Uses Of A Pontoon Boat Toilet
In my opinion, all boaters should plan in advance and install a portable bathroom on their pontoon boat. Once you are in the water you don’t want to go back for a bathroom trip.
Now, on to my research and reading different pontoon boat bathroom reviews, here are a few reasons why you should consider adding a pontoon toilet if you don’t have one.
- Children: If you are like me and have children on your pontoon boat, you can guarantee they will ask to use the bathroom if you are planning on staying on the water for more than 4 hours. Additionally, depending on the material of the interior of your pontoon boat, you may need to avoid accidents at all costs.
- Medical Problems: Another reason why you may want to consider installing a bathroom on your pontoon boat is for medical problems. While you may not have any medical problems, you might have a friend or relative who does. A bathroom offers a sense of freedom and liberation in those moments when someone really needs to go.
- Emergencies: I think it goes without question that we should all have a bathroom on our boats, especially for emergencies. You never know if someone is going to get sick and needs to use the bathroom.
The Best Pontoon Boat Toilet Review
Dometic Portable Toilet
In my opinion, one of the best portable toilets that you can install on your pontoon boat is the Dometic Portable Toilet (Amazon Price). This was one of the first products that I stumbled across and I was immediately captured.
This is a 5-gallon portable toilet that comes with a unique elongated seat. What I liked about this portable toilet was that it is built from ABS. In other words, this toilet is built to last.
On top of this, according to the reviews, the cleaning and maintenance of this toilet are bare minimal. All that is required of the user is to add water and press a button. After a long day out on the water, all you need to do is empty the holding tank.
I should note that this toilet was built for adults. If you have children you may need to buy the needed accessories.

Camco Standard Portable Toilet
Another toilet that impressed me from the beginning was the Camco Standard Portable Toilet (Amazon Price). This toilet holds 2.5 gallons, which is slightly smaller than the Dometic Portable Toilet except this one can hold up to 5.3 gallons of waste.
What I thought was nice about this specific toilet was that it’s the size of a normal toilet in your home. If you have children this will be great if you need additional accessories for them.
Also, I like the side valve on the side of the toilet. This helps to keep bathroom odors trapped inside of the toilet, rather than around on the boat. I think any pontoon boat owner would appreciate the simplicity of this toilet for their boat.

PartySaving Portable Toilet
When I first saw the PartySaving Portable Toliet (Amazon Price), I thought it would have been an eye-sore for my boat. If you are like me, I like my pontoon boat to be shiny and appealing. However, if you are looking for practicality this toiled is just that, as well as incredibly easy to clean.
All you need to do is remove a screw cap and detach the holding tank to dispose of the waste. The best part is that it’s leak-proof.
My only concern with this toilet was that it’s not a full-size toilet. So, it may take a bit of time to get used to. And, if you have children, you might have a hard time finding accessories.

Thetford Porta Potti Curve Portable Toilet
In my opinion, the best pontoon boat toilet on the market is the Thetford Porta Potti (Amazon Price). It is also the best looking. This is a modern-looking toilet that would compliment any pontoon. It can hold 4 gallons of water!!
Now, what I think is so unique about this portable toilet is that it comes with a battery-powered feature that controls the flushing mechanism. On top of this, you can even hide toilet paper with this toilet.
How cool is that!
My only word of caution that I can say is that this toilet is bigger in size than other toilets. If you are planning on combining this with a drop-down bimini changing room, make sure you purchase the right sizes.

Palm Springs Portable Toilet
The last toilet for my pontoon boat bathroom review is the Palm Springs Portable Toilet (Amazon Price). In my opinion, this is the simplest-looking toilet on the market. However, reviewers are saying that this toilet is incredibly comfy.
On top of this, children can use this toilet, making it a family-friendly toilet.
I like that fact that it has the ease-of-use and cleaning mechanism. The toilet functions just like your toilet at home. And, all you need to do is remove the bottom portion of the toilet to remove the waste.

Don’t Forget This!
Purchasing a portable toilet is only one part of this pontoon boat bathroom review. Did you figure about the other accessories that you need to keep the bathroom clean, and guests after using the toilet?
With that being said, I have created a small checklist to help remind you of what is needed before you set sail with your brand-new pontoon bathroom.
Compostable Toilet Paper or Biodegradable Toilet Paper
When you are purchasing toilet paper for your pontoon boat, it’s important that you get the right kind. The type of toilet paper you are buying for your house is not the same for your pontoon. You are going to want to purchase toilet paper that is either compostable or biodegradable. This will help the cleaning and maintenance portion.
Toilet Bowl Cleaners
Just like your home toilet, you need to have some handy toilet bowl cleaners on board to help disinfect and clean the toilet and bathroom area.
There are many different cleaners that you can purchase. In my opinion, I would try to find some products that are environmentally friendly. Many of the products that we use for our bathroom at home are filled with chemicals that would do harm to the fish and life in the water.
If you need to use the bathroom on your pontoon boat, you don’t want to risk not having the proper deodorizers for those special moments. While portable toilets do their best to conceal scents, there are some that can escape, which can make your boating time unpleasant. The most common product that I have seen is Febreze or Poo-Pourri Toliet Spray.
Last but not least, you need to give the person on your boat privacy when using your toilet. There are many different types of privacy screens and protectors that you can buy. If your boat does not come with a dedicated bathroom space, I recommend going with a full-scale changing room and installing your bathroom that way. Then, not only will you have a private bathroom, you can also have a changing room.
